Top-ranked Aryna Sabalenka Claims Back-to-Back WTA Player of the Year Honors.
World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been selected the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second consecutive season.
The twenty-seven-year-old secured four tournament victories – the most on tour – which included successfully defending the US Open in September versus Amanda Anisimova to secure her fourth Grand Slam singles championship.
A Year of Consistency
Throughout the year, Sabalenka competed in a circuit-leading nine finals, with defeats coming against Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.
The Belarusian also claimed victory at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open during the spring, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She remained the entire year as the world number one, concluding 2025 atop the rankings for a second successive year.
In July, she achieved the status of being the first player to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points since Serena Williams in 2015.
Historic Statistics
Sabalenka finished the competitive year with a sixty-three to twelve match record, and collected a historic eleven million pounds in tournament winnings.
She earned nearly eighty percent of the votes submitted by global tennis journalists.
On 28 December, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match with the aim of "raise women's tennis to a new level".

- Comeback Player of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, twenty-eight, was voted after taking extended hiatus after the arrival of her daughter and making her comeback to the sport earlier this season.
- Fresh Face of the Year: Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko picked up the award after starting the season ranked beyond the world's top 300 and rising to world number 18.
- Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were selected after securing their second Grand Slam title together.
- Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after reaching five championship matches.
Last week, Carlos Alcaraz took home three awards in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, including the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as the fan favorite for a third consecutive time.
