The 30-year-old golfer demonstrated exceptional composure to secure the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship on Sunday, defeating Tommy Fleetwood in a dramatic play-off following a topsy-turvy final round of play.

Final Round Drama
The champion entered the last day with a single stroke advantage over fellow Englishman Tommy Fleetwood and Danish golfer Højgaard. He finished with a total score of twenty-under after a up-and-down, 67 closing round that featured seven birdies and a pair of bogeys.
The challenger edged a stroke ahead with two holes to play after a birdie putt on the 16th, but his rival pulled level again on the seventeenth and then missed a 10-foot birdie attempt to win outright on the last green.
Play-Off Decider
That led to a playoff at the Yas Links course where Rai prevailed to claim the championship and $1.5m (£1.13 million) in winnings.
{“Tommy is a phenomenal golfer and an even better individual. To compete alongside him the final two rounds was truly memorable,” said Rai, the present world No 30. “You’re so concentrated on your game and maintaining focus, it’s difficult to describe at the present how it is. It is amazing to be holding the trophy.”
