Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Player Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement Wednesday night stating they have knowledge of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and had been in communication with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of Rice by name in their announcement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Social Media

The woman, who also did not mention the athlete by name, shared a series of photos on social media that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Not on File

No police reports were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Player's Prior Off-Field Troubles

The receiver missed the first six games of this season following an league-mandated ban for his involvement in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that left several individuals hurt. He was given 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, Rice finished the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Kansas City went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
