Jennifer Lawrence Expresses Mentioning Donald Trump Would ‘Intensify Divisions’ Tearing the Nation Apart

Lawrence has expressed that she finds it inappropriate fitting to voice opinions countering the Trump government, worried it could exacerbate divisive discussions and further divisions within the United States.

‘I Question the Usefulness’, Notes the Actress

Speaking with media, the Oscar winner shared, “During the first Trump administration, I felt like I was moving hastily in a panicked state. But as we’ve learned, over multiple voting cycles, public figures do not make a difference at all on voter decisions.”

The actor went on, “Why continue? I’m just sharing my opinion on something that’s going to worsen tensions dividing the country apart.”

Shifting Views

Lawrence has spoken candidly about voting for both conservative and liberal presidential nominees throughout her life. Raised by a right-leaning family in her home state, she voted for the Republican nominee in the 2008 election prior to switching to the Democratic party and stating she recognized during President Obama’s term that voting Republican was undermining her personal freedoms as a woman.

Previous Comments

Earlier in her career, she commented that a Trump victory could represent “a catastrophic event” and backed Joe Biden in the 2020 election. More recently, she lent her support to the Democratic nominee, “because I believe she’s an excellent choice and I trust that she will take all necessary steps to protect women’s health rights.”

Hollywood’s Stance

The star was aligned with numerous celebrities in her rejection of the former president as a presidential contender, but the lack of leverage stars have over the public choices was highlighted by the outcome.

“Another four years seems distinct,” noted she of his administration. “Because he made his plans clear. We understood his record for the previous administration. He was transparent. And voters made that decision.”

Latest Film

Lawrence is currently promoting the drama, Lynne Ramsay’s movie in which she plays a new mother who deals with her mental health in rural Montana. At a press conference for the movie in Venice, she commented on the situation in the Middle East: “I’m terrified. It’s horrifying. What’s taking place is nothing short of a genocide and it’s awful.”

Additional Thoughts

She continued by expressing that she was disheartened by “the disrespect in the discussions of U.S. political debates currently and how that is going to be commonplace to the younger generation now. It’s going to be typical to them that elected officials deceive.”

The actor sought to redirect frustration about the issue to policymakers rather than entertainers. “Concentrate on the people in charge,” she advised, in what many took to be a allusion to the declaration supported by more than 4,000 arts community members to boycott specific industry bodies.

Relatable Experiences

Lawrence, who won an Oscar aged 22 for her part in Silver Linings Playbook, is generating Oscar buzz for her work in her latest project. While Ramsay has disputed the plot being seen as one of postpartum depression and mental illness, the actress revealed that she did relate to parts of her role’s experience after the delivery of her second son, not long after production wrapped.

“It was fear for my son,” she commented, “imagining every worst-case scenario, and then doubting everything that I was trying. I was already in therapy, but I began using a treatment called the prescription and I continued it for 14 days and it really helped.”

Career Moments

Lawrence also discussed of the empowering aspect of shooting revealing sequences in the project while she was in pregnancy and couldn’t work out.

“It feels nice,” she said, regarding the need to cast off vanity. “Truly, I occasionally wonder where I’m like, What separates me between my work and that profession? But it isn’t a major concern.”
