European Cup Action Tonight: Marseille v Newcastle & Additional Games

League Table
It's the midway stage of the league stage, so the table is beginning to form. All six British clubs are presently in the upper twelve, however there are only two points separating 5th and sixteenth position, so there's a sense of uncertainty about the whole thing. Everything is to play for.

Initial Game Reports
Just one goal during the opening period of the early fixtures. Dahl's sixth-minute goal has given Benfica under Mourinho a one-nil lead away to the Dutch side.
Newcastle’s Trip to Marseille
Although Newcastle traveled to the south of France coming off their confidence-boosting two-one home Premier League win against City on Saturday, and having defeated Union Saint-Gilloise, the Portuguese side and Bilbao in the European Cup, their only on the road win since the start of April came in the Belgian capital at Union Saint-Gilloise.
Not that Eddie Howe was overly keen to talk about the mental side of this travel sickness. “The Champions League is distinct from domestic games,” said the manager, whose team are 6th in the Champions League standings, with 9 points from a possible 12 and automatic progression to the last 16 almost within touching distance. “I am not sure if you can draw parallels between them.”
We have a separate live blog for Chelsea v Barcelona. Scott Murray, the minute-by-minute equivalent of Diego Maradona is handling for that.
