Comedian and author David Walliams dropped by longtime publisher.

David Walliams

Acclaimed writer for children and TV personality David Walliams has been dropped by his longtime publishing house, according to an announcement.

A representative for the publisher commented: "Following a thorough review, and following the appointment of its recently appointed chief executive, HarperCollins UK will not be releasing any new titles by David Walliams."

It has been reported that the move was made after an inquiry regarding allegations of inappropriate behaviour directed at young women.

The company has not elaborated on the specific rationale behind the move, noting: "It is not our policy to discuss private personnel issues."

A Prolific Writing Journey

Walliams ranks among Britain's most successful children's authors, having sold more than 60 million copies globally in five dozen languages.

His inaugural foray into kids' literature, *The Boy in the Dress*, was released through HarperCollins back in 2008.

Several of his works, for example *Gangsta Granny* and *Billionaire Boy*, have found new life as television films.

His bibliography includes more than 40 books altogether, including a Christmas book called *Santa & Son*, which was released through HarperCollins in October.

A Dual Career

He first rose to fame on the television comedy show *Little Britain* and has also won National Television Awards for his role as a panelist on *Britain's Got Talent*.

He was awarded an OBE back in 2017 in recognition of his work for charity and the arts.

The publisher's decision comes after the appointment of Kate Elton as HarperCollins UK's freshly installed boss this past October.
