Canada's Blue Jays Earn World Series Matchup Against Los Angeles Dodgers
Springer previously helped the Astros securing the World Series in the 2017 season.
Canada's MLB team reached their initial championship series following the 1993 season by defeating the Seattle Mariners in the decisive Game 7 of the ALCS.
Behind three runs to one, the star outfielder delivered a three-run blast in the seventh, leading the Toronto squad in Major League Baseball to a four games to three victory in the series. Next up are the Dodgers, holders of the current crown, in the upcoming championship.
"I'm just so happy for everyone here, the city, the nation," said Springer, an integral part of the Houston Astros team that secured the 2017 championship. "This is such an amazing experience."
George Springer has now connected for twenty-three October home runs, making him third in history trailing only Manny Ramirez (29) and Jose Altuve (27).
"There's probably not another player in the world that I'd prefer in that moment other than him with his October magic," remarked Blue Jays manager John Schneider.
Seattle, who had led the early in the series, remain the sole team that has never reached in a Fall Classic.
Wilson commented "certainly that it's painful" after his club's elimination at Rogers Centre, but commended their performance this season.
"They're an exceptional squad. It's a shame that we had to come out on the wrong side of this game," he remarked.
Toronto claimed the World Series on each of their earlier trips in the early 90s, and will welcome the Los Angeles in the opener on this Friday.
